Description

Endless

Endless can be heard as a record of a spiritual search, a question that resonates within the human being: what endures? what is true? what remains when all the voices of the world fall silent? In a culture that measures value by speed and visibility, this music proposes a different perspective — a perspective of duration, concentration, and trust.

For years, Bałdych has been developing an aesthetic that might be called contemplative violinism. His violin leads the listener not toward spectacle, but inward. Its sound resembles a wordless prayer: recurring, humble, open. The bow touching the string becomes a gesture of surrender, and every pause — a space in which one can hear more than sound. This is violin playing that does not attempt to drown out silence, but allows it to speak.

The meeting of exceptional personalities — bandoneonist Daniele di Bonaventura, double bassist Michel Benita, and pianist Jacob Karlzon — creates a space of encounter not only between cultures, but also between sensibilities and points of view. The musicians do not compete — they coexist. Their dialogue resembles a litany: recurring motifs, subtle responses, shared breathing — one space and time.

Endless was created in Lusławice — a place where the architecture of sound meets the architecture of silence. The space of the concert hall of the Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre for Music does not merely register the sound of Bałdych’s new quartet; it co-creates it. One can hear the air, the breath of the bow, the moment of hesitation before the piano tone enters. It arises at the threshold of audibility, as if the artists were asking: how much sound is needed to touch infinity?
